Forestry Mulching & Clearing

Pasture, Brush & Large Tree Removal

What Is Forestry Mulching?

Forestry mulching is a land-clearing technique that uses a specialized machine to cut, grind, and clear vegetation — brush, small trees, vines, undergrowth — and leaves the material as mulch directly on site.

Unlike traditional clearing (bulldozing, burning, hauling), mulching minimizes disturbance to soil, preserves root systems, and speeds up restoration of usable land.

How We Do It (Our Process)

  1. Initial Assessment & Goal Setting

    • Walk the property, evaluate vegetation type (brush, thicket, large trees), terrain, and soil conditions.

    • Determine your goals: pasture reclaiming, opening view, building site prep, firebreak, right-of-way, etc.

  2. Customized Plan & Permitting

    • Define the machine size needed. Investigate any local rules (city limits, waterways, endangered species, etc.).

    • Plan for safe access for machinery and erosion control.

  3. Vegetation Clearing & Mulching

    • Use heavy-duty mulching machines capable of handling large trees.

    • Mulching happens in stages if needed: heavier timber, brush, then finish work.

    • For thorny locust, hedge, etc., apply licensed herbicide in coordination to prevent regrowth.

  4. Finishing & Cleanup

    • Remove or pile obstacles if desired (logs, cut trees). Clean up around buildings/structures.

    • Grade or smooth access paths, driveways, and pen areas. Install drainage, culverts, and crossings if part of the scope.

  5. Regrowth Control & Follow-Up

    • Return visits as needed; spot-spraying to stop regrowth of invasive or thorny brush.

    • Offer maintenance mowing or periodic check-ups to preserve cleared land.

Our Equipment & Capabilities

  • Heavy forestry mulcher capable of grinding thick brush, small to large trees.

  • Skid steer attachments for tight or sensitive areas.

  • Support gear: dozers, trucks, rock spreaders, skid steers, etc.

  • Safety & compliance: insured, licensed, understanding of local environmental regulations.

Types of Properties We Serve

  • Pastures & grazing lands

  • Firebreaks & right of way/utility corridors

  • Hunting land habitat improvement

  • Home building sites & around structures (inside and outside city limits)

  • Rural access roads & driveways

  • Trail creation, pond/stream banks needing erosion control

What Affects Cost

  • Density & type of vegetation (brush, locust, hedge, large trees)

  • Terrain & accessibility (steep slopes, rocky ground, proximity)

  • Size of area & overall acreage to clear

  • Whether debris removal, stumps, etc., are included or you only want mulched and left in place

  • Additional services: herbicide work, culverts/installations, grading

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We can handle large trees—including cottonwoods up to 8 ft in diameter. For very large timber, we may use sectional cutting + mulching or removal as needed.

  • Minimal. Mulching leaves soil and root structure intact vs. bulldozing or backhoe excavation. Ruts or disturbances are repaired in the finish phase.Description text goes here

  • No. It decomposes naturally, suppresses weeds, holds moisture, and acts as a mattress for new growth. If you want, we can rake, grade, or haul off clean debris.

  • Mulching typically has fewer regulatory hurdles than burning. We help ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. For work in city limits, we follow local ordinance requirements.
